New Delhi. Saving a phone number in WhatsApp has been a big task since the beginning. Saving a phone number on the web version is the most difficult. If you are using the web version of WhatsApp, during that time if someone sends a contact number, then it has to be saved from the phone, but this will not happen after the new update.
After the new feature of WhatsApp arrives, you will be able to save phone numbers on the web version of WhatsApp as well. WhatsApp has given this information in its blog. The new feature will come for the web, Windows, and linked devices.
In a blog post, WhatsApp explained that until now the only way to add contacts was to save them on the primary device or scan a QR code. With the upcoming feature, users will be able to do so from any device. This change will be introduced first on WhatsApp Web and Windows and will later be available on other linked devices as well.
Users will have the option to choose whether they want to save a particular contact number only on WhatsApp or sync it to their smartphone as well. The feature uses a new encrypted storage system called Identity Proof Linked Storage (IPLS), which uses Key Transparency and WhatsApp’s Hardware Security Module (HSM) technology.
The big advantage of this will be that the contacts saved on WhatsApp can be retrieved in case the user loses his phone or changes the device. Apart from this, users can also create or customize separate contact lists for their personal and office WhatsApp accounts.
