After the god gave a nod Indra’s son Jayant ran away with the pot followed by the demons. The war for the Amrit Kalsh lasted for 12 days between the gods and demons. The Kumbh Mela is conducted in the locations where the Amrit fell out of the pot during the war. Amrit had dripped in Haridwar, Ujjain, Nashik, and the Prayagraj District of Uttar Pradesh. Thus the Kumbh Mela is conducted in these four locations.
