This is the best time to worship ancestors in Pitru Paksha

Pitru Paksha 2024: In Sanatan Dharma, there is a tradition of performing Pinddaan, Tarpan in Pitru Paksha for the peace of the soul of ancestors. It is believed that by performing Shradh of ancestors during this time, one can also get rid of Pitru Dosh prevailing in the birth horoscope. According to the Hindu calendar, Pitru Paksha is going to start from September 17. But, Shradh will not be performed on this day.

Actually, on this day is the Shradh of Bhadrapada Purnima and the works of Shradh Karma in Pitru Paksha are done from Pratipada Tithi, hence Tarpan will be done in the name of sages on the 17th. Shradh Paksha starts from Pratipada Tithi. In such a situation, Pinddaan, Brahmin food, Tarpan, donation etc. will start from September 18. If we see the beginning of Pitru Paksha, it is happening from September 18 and it will continue till October 2.

Afternoon is the time for worshipping ancestors. The best time for worshipping ancestors is said to be between 11:30 and 12:30.

Therefore, offering sesame seeds with water satisfies the souls of ancestors.
