Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan resigns

Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan resigns: The struggling multinational coffee chain Starbucks has recently announced a change in leadership. Starbucks on Tuesday announced the appointment of Brian Nicol as Chairman and CEO in place of Indian-origin Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Laxman Narasimhan.

Niccol will assume his new role on Sept. 9, Starbucks said in a release. Until then, Starbucks CFO Rachel Ruggeri will serve as interim CEO. Niccol will be the fourth person to become Starbucks’ CEO in the past two years. He currently serves as CEO of Mexican-inspired food chain Chipotle.

Starbucks’ current CEO Narasimhan is stepping down from his role with immediate effect. He took charge of Starbucks in March 2023.

This leadership change has generated a lot of discussion on social media.
