When Bihar did not get the status of a special state, RJD surrounded both JDU and BJP. In such a situation, to shut the mouth of the opposition, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar did such a dhobi pachhar that no one is able to think of a counter to it. Actually, apart from this matter, Nitish Kumar took a new line and used the ‘Brahmastra’ in the form of reservation. Nitish, enraged by the uproar of the opposition, hit two birds with one stone.
On one hand, he bluntly told the opposition, ‘Even though the status of a special state has not been received, but whatever has been received in return from the Center is like ‘Bhooto Na Bhavishyati’. Congress party leaders are giving testimony to this by going around’.
On the other hand, Nitish said, ‘Our government is making every possible effort to unlock the revised reservation limit of 65% of Bihar state, which was canceled by the Patna High Court. In this connection, a request to the Center to include it in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution is also included.’
Why is there so much commotion?
On Wednesday, the proceedings of the Bihar Assembly were repeatedly disrupted due to the uproar by the opposition members demanding inclusion of the state’s amended reservation laws in the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. In such a situation, Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav had to work hard to send the opposition members back to their seats.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also stood up to intervene, but the opposition MLAs did not agree. After this, Nitish made a big statement to shut the mouth of the opposition.
65% quota provision in 9th Schedule: This is how the solution will be found
Nitish said, ‘On my insistence, you all agreed to caste-based census after which quota was increased for SC, ST, OBC and extremely backward classes. When the Patna High Court has struck down the reservation laws, we have gone to the Supreme Court. A formal request has also been made to the Center to include them in the Ninth Schedule.’
These reservation laws, passed in November last year, increased the quota for disadvantaged castes to 65 percent, which were struck down by the Patna High Court last month. Placing laws that violate the 50 percent reservation limit set by the Supreme Court in the Ninth Schedule will exempt them from judicial review.
Nitish said- We are happy with the package received by Bihar
It is worth noting that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman showed a lot of kindness to the alliance partners in the first budget of the third term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In fact, when the Modi government at the Center could not get a full majority on its own after 10 years and fell short of 32 MPs, JDU-TDP became a big support. Talking about Bihar, it got about four times more money than Andhra. NDA ally Nitish got 59 thousand crores and Naidu got 15 thousand crores.
As soon as Nirmala Sitharaman’s budget speech ended, Nitish Kumar reacted to Bihar’s ‘Maha’ allocation and said, ‘We were continuously demanding special status. We had asked them (NDA) to give us special status or a special package. They gave us a special package. The central government has announced assistance for many things. Aid has been announced to help Bihar. The whole of Bihar is happy with this.’
