Rakshabandhan 2024: Know the right time before tying Rakhi

There is no doubt that the work done at the right time definitely gives the right results, therefore before starting any new work, one must consider the Muhurta. Only a few days are left for the festival of unbreakable love between brother and sister, Rakshabandhan.

In such a situation, note down the date and time from now so that the sister can tie the Rakhi to her brother at the right time. Before tying the Raksha Sutra on the day of Rakshabandhan, one must consider the Muhurta, especially Bhadra.

According to the scriptures, Bhadra is an element of separation and destruction, therefore tying a Rakhi or doing any other auspicious work during Bhadra Kaal is considered prohibited. The festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Sawan, this time it is on 19th August.

Although it is said in the scriptures that “Aparahnavyapini Syadrakshabandhankarmani” i.e. the festival of Raksha Bandhan should be celebrated only after the afternoon vyaapini full moon and Bhadra. But there are many people who do not believe in the auspicious time, rather celebrate the festival as per their convenience but in reality it is not right to do so.

How long will the shadow of Bhadra remain?

According to religious scriptures, if there is Bhadra Kaal on the day of Purnima, then sisters should tie Raksha Sutra on their brother’s wrist only after the time period is over. On 19th August, along with Purnima, there will also be Bhadra, which will last till 1:31 pm. Tying a Rakhi is also an auspicious task, hence this task should be done according to the auspicious time. Sisters can tie Rakhi after 1:31 pm.

Keep these things in mind

While buying a Rakhi, make sure that the thread is cotton and should not be black or blue. If for some reason the sister has forgotten to buy the thread, she can also tie a sacred thread. 

Brothers should definitely give their favorite gifts to their sisters. Sisters should also try to feed their brothers homemade sweets but if this is not possible, then ensure that the sweets are juicy and not black or brown.
