Police Commemoration Day: CM Yogi increases uniform allowance of UP Police

Lucknow. On Police Commemoration Day on Monday, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced to increase the uniform allowance of policemen by 70 percent. This will incur an expenditure of Rs 58 crore which will be borne by the government. CM Yogi made this announcement on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day.

Apart from this, the hurdles in getting the ex-gratia amount to the legal heirs of the deceased policemen will be removed. Rs 47 crore will be provided for the residential allowance of constables and head constables living in barracks, which will benefit about 25 percent of the personnel. To provide better facilities to the sportspersons in the police force, Rs 10 crore will now be given instead of Rs 70 lakh. A corpus fund of Rs 1380 crore will be given for better maintenance of the residences of the policemen.

Yogi paid tribute to two martyred policemen

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to two martyred policemen in the police line on Monday on the occasion of Police Commemoration Day. During this, he also honored the family members of the martyred policemen. Police Commemoration Day is organized every year on 21 October in memory of the policemen martyred in the state. This year tribute was paid to two policemen Rohit Kumar and Sachin Rathi.

On June 8, 2024, constable Rohit Kumar posted at Nawabganj police station in Fatehgarh district, along with fellow policemen, went to raid on the information of illegal mining. A biker was showing the way to the tractor trolley engaged in illegal mining. Rohit chased the biker. During this, the accused hit Rohit’s bike. Due to this, Rohit came under the tractor trolley. Rohit died in this incident. On December 25, 2023, constable Sachin Rathi posted at Chhibramau police station in Kannauj district went to raid the smugglers with the police team. During this, Sachin was shot in the firing of the smugglers. Sachin died during treatment.
