Paris Olympics medalist Indian athlete rejects govt job offer

India won 6 medals in Paris Olympics. Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal for the country in javelin and the remaining 5 were bronze medals. Among these, one bronze medalist athlete was offered a government job, which he has rejected. The reason behind this is also given.

Actually, Sarabjot Singh, who won the bronze medal for India in the mixed team match in shooting along with Manu Bhaker, has rejected this offer. On returning home, Sarabjot was offered a job by the Haryana government, but he rejected it.

Why did you turn down the job offer?

Actually, Sarabjot Singh does not think that this is the right time for him to do a government job, because he has not yet achieved his goal. Sarabjot told that his family wants to see him doing a good job, but at present shooting is his first priority. He said, ‘The job is good, but I will not take it right now. I want to focus on my shooting first.’

The family is also saying…

Olympic medalist Sarabjot said, ‘My family is also telling me to do a good job, but I want to do shooting. I do not want to go against my decisions, so I cannot do a job right now.’ Let us tell you that Sarabjot and Manu together won a bronze medal for India in the mixed team event of Paris Olympics. This was India’s second medal in Paris Olympics. Earlier, Manu Bhaker won India’s first medal in Paris in the women’s shooting event, which was bronze.

The gold medal is the target

Sarabjot Singh’s next target is to win a gold medal in the Olympics. The 22-year-old shooter has his eyes set on the 2028 Olympic Games to be held in Los Angeles. After failing to win an individual medal in Paris, the young shooter is aiming to achieve nothing less than a gold medal in four years’ time. Sarabjot was part of the Indian shooting team at the 2022 Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China. The Indian 10m air pistol team of Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema and Shiva Narwal won gold by defeating China.
