Pakistan’s respect is at stake, former cricketer reveals the truth

Champions Trophy 2025:  Hosting the Champions Trophy has become a sore spot for Pakistan. It is unable to leave it and there is also doubt over hosting the event. Pakistan has received funds from the ICC, but hosting is at risk. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not yet agreed to send its team there. The BCCI has directly said that the decision of the central government on this matter will be final.

Hybrid model will enter Champions Trophy

If the Indian team does not tour Pakistan, then the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will have to organize Team India’s matches at neutral venues. The same thing happened during the Asia Cup last year. It had to organize most of the matches in Sri Lanka. The Indian team did not go to Pakistan for its matches. Team India played all the matches in Sri Lanka. Former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali has expressed concern about the Champions Trophy to be held next year.

… then Pakistan may lose the hosting

Basit Ali wonders whether Pakistan will be able to defend its title in the ICC Champions Trophy to be held in its own country. He stressed the need for tight security arrangements and said that if there is any lapse in security, Pakistan may lose the opportunity to host a major cricket tournament.

Pakistan will host England and West Indies

Pakistan is going to host Test series against Bangladesh, England and West Indies in the 2024-25 season. Apart from this, Pakistan has also got the rights to host the Champions Trophy in 2025. Pakistan won the Champions Trophy by defeating India in 2017. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had released the dates of the entire domestic season and the schedule of the Champions Trophy only last month.

Security arrangements like those of the Prime Minister and the President

Basit Ali has appealed to the PCB and the Pakistani government to make the security arrangements extremely strong. He said that foreign teams should get the same security as the country’s Prime Minister and President. Basit Ali’s concerns are absolutely justified. The security situation in Pakistan often deteriorates and due to this many international cricket tournaments have to be cancelled. If Pakistan wants to successfully organize the Champions Trophy, then it will have to make strong security arrangements.

Pakistan will benefit from the event

Pakistan Cricket Board will also have to consider this matter seriously. They will have to ensure that foreign teams do not face any kind of problem. If Pakistan successfully organizes the Champions Trophy, then it will benefit Pakistani cricket a lot. It should also be kept in mind that Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017. Therefore, this time too the Pakistani team will be a strong contender to win the title in this tournament. But for this, the team will have to perform well as well as make the security environment favorable.
