Omar Abdullah takes oath as first Chief Minister of Union Territory of J&K

New Delhi. Omar Abdullah took oath as the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. MLA Surendra Kumar has been made the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. However, the role of Congress in the government is still not clear. Amidst all this, senior leaders of India Alliance had reached the oath taking ceremony.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said, I congratulate the newly elected Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah. We are happy that someone from our alliance has become the CM. Democracy has been established here after a long time. This is an opportunity to keep democracy alive and run the government under the Constitution. We will ensure statehood for Jammu and Kashmir.

National Conference vice-president Omar Abdullah was on Wednesday sworn in as the first chief minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath to Abdullah and his ministers at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

Along with this, National Conference MLAs Javed Ahmed Rana, Javed Ahmed Dar from Rafiabad, Sakina Ittu from DH Pora and Surinder Kumar Choudhary from Nowshera were also sworn in as cabinet ministers by LG Sinha. Surinder Choudhary has been made the Deputy CM .
