Lucknow. In a meeting with the Energy Department held at his official residence in Lucknow today, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the current status of power generation, transmission and distribution in the state and the efforts being made with a view to the future and gave necessary guidelines to the concerned officials.
The Chief Minister said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the resolution of ‘electricity in every house – uninterrupted electricity’ is being fulfilled in the state in the last 07 years. Today electricity is being delivered to every village and hamlet.
Today electricity is being supplied without any discrimination. This time, making extra efforts for the convenience of the common people amid the scorching heat, 24-hour electricity was supplied in the entire state from 15 March to 30 June. In the year 2018-19, the maximum demand in a day was 20,062 MW, which reached 30,618 MW on 13 June in this session. Our effort should be to ensure adequate supply of electricity as per the demand.
He said, apart from various hydro power projects, 22 thermal projects are running successfully in the state today at Anpara, Harduaganj, Obra, Parichha and Jawaharpur. The work of the units under construction at Ghatampur, Panki, Obra-C and Jawaharpur should be completed speedily. Apart from Obra-D, Anpara-E and Meja Thermal Project-II Phase being set up as a joint venture with NTPC, the work of Khurja Thermal Project under construction with THDC is expected to be expedited.
These efforts will increase the power generation capacity of the state. A study should be conducted on the possibility of setting up pump storage plants at Rihand Dam, Obra Reservoir and its surrounding areas.
In order to fulfill the resolution of ‘Electricity in every home – uninterrupted electricity’, it is necessary to further improve the power transmission system. Before setting up new sub-stations, the requirements there must be studied. New sub-stations should be set up by setting targets as per the requirements of the next 5 years.
The Chief Minister said that, if the transformer gets damaged in villages and urban areas, it should be repaired immediately. New transformer should be sent as per the requirement. The work of the agencies repairing the transformer should also be observed. Every call coming on toll free number/helpline should be attended. Every consumer’s problem should be resolved appropriately.
Dissatisfaction is often seen among the people regarding fixing of electricity connection charges. Rules should be amended to bring uniformity in this. Unnecessary infrastructure charges should be reduced.
