25 thousand discount on luxury car
According to TOI sources, some of the top luxury car companies have agreed to offer discounts of around ₹ 25,000 while others are also expected to put a cap on the discounts.
Nitan Gadkari is insisting
The auto industry and the government are about to announce this plan. Since the scrapping policy came in March 2021, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has been insisting that buyers should get concessions like discounts and lower GST for scrapping their old vehicles.
The ministry had sent advice in 2022
In 2022, the ministry had sent an advisory to automobile unions asking them to offer their members a discount of up to 5% on the sale price in exchange for scrapping vehicles, but the industry ignored the advice and decided to negotiate a discount that was commercially viable. The government has taken initiatives to set up 60 registered vehicle scrapping facilities and 75 automated testing stations.
