New Broadcasting Bill 2024: The government is preparing to bring a new law, which will have a big impact on social media. The first draft of this law came last year, but now the government has made some changes in it. This new draft has been shown to only a few selected people, which has created controversy.
According to broadcasting experts, the changes proposed in this bill of the central government will have a significant impact on press and creative freedom. According to the new law, all people sharing news on social media will have to register with the government. Even if you have very few followers, you will still have to register. Such a provision was till now applicable on streaming services like Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Disney + Hotstar.
A committee must be formed
Apart from this, these people will have to form a committee which will look at their videos and posts and decide whether they are correct or not. If any mistake is made then these people can also be fined.

Many people say that this law will put a lot of pressure on small YouTubers and news websites. They will have to follow a lot of rules, which will cause problems in their work. The Congress party has criticized this law a lot. The party says that the government is trying to keep an eye on social media. This will affect people’s freedom. If this law is made, then social media companies will also have to obey the government. If they do not obey the government, action can be taken against them too.
