Modi government’s big gift to central employees before Diwali

New Delhi. Before Diwali, the Narendra Modi government of the Center has given a big gift to the central employees on Wednesday. The central government has announced a 3 percent increase in the dearness allowance of the employees (DA Hike). Along with increasing the DA by 3 percent, the Union Cabinet has also announced to give three months’ arrears to the employees. After this increase, DA has increased to 53 percent. Earlier in March this year, DA hike of 4 percent was given.

DA of employees is 53 percent

Central employees were currently getting 50 percent DA. According to government sources, before Diwali, the government has given them a big gift by increasing it by 3 percent. The benefit of this latest increase in DA will be available from July 1, 2024. This means that the Diwali of central employees has become even brighter, because there will be a bumper increase in their salary. In this sense, the employees will also be given the arrears of July, August and September months by adding them.

This is the second DA Hike of the year 2024

Generally, the central government revises the DA of employees in January and July. Earlier, on 24 March 2024, the central employees were given the gift of 4 percent DA Hike. With this increase, the dearness allowance they were getting was increased from 46 percent to 50 percent. Now after the latest increase, it has increased to 53 percent.

Calculation of salary of employees

Now let’s talk about how much the salary of the employees will increase after the government increases the dearness allowance by 3 percent. So according to the calculation, if the basic salary of an employee is Rs 55,200, then at present his dearness allowance at 50 percent is Rs 27,600. On the other hand, if the DA becomes 53 percent, then his dearness allowance will increase to Rs 29,256. That is, the salary of the employees will increase by Rs 29,256 – Rs 27,600 = Rs 1,656.

Let us tell you here that the calculation of DA given to the employees is related to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI), which tracks retail inflation over the past 12 months. With the inflation pressure and rising costs of the world, this decision is important for the management of household budgets across the country.

How much arrears money will be given?
As we told you, an employee with a basic salary of Rs 40,000 will start getting an additional dearness allowance of Rs 1,200 every month on a 3% DA hike. Since this hike is being considered effective from July itself, the employee will also be given arrears for the months of July, August and September. In this way, he will also get Rs 3,600 as arrears.
