Mahindra to make a big bang on 15th August

Mahindra & Mahindra is going to launch the 5-door version of its most popular off-road SUV Thar on August 15. Earlier, the company has officially revealed the front look of the car on the social media platform X. The new front grille of Thar Rocks and both LED projector headlamps are visible in the shared image.

Its starting price can be around Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom). In the segment, it will compete with Maruti Jimny and the upcoming 5-door Force Gurkha. Talking about the design of the upcoming 5-door Mahindra Thar SUV, it will come with a traditional boxy profile like the current 3-door Thar, but many changes will be seen in it.

The new teaser image shows many upgrades of the Thar car which make it different from the three door Thar. The fog lights and turn indicators are placed in the same place as the 3 door Thar, but their design has been changed.

Apart from this, the upcoming SUV will get a new design grille with six-vertical double-slats, round shaped advanced LED projector headlamps, C-shaped integrated LED DRLs in the headlamps, vertical taillamps, new design silver bumpers, dual-tone ORVMs, new alloy wheels, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and a flat roof.

These new features will be available in the 5-door Thar

The seats in the cabin of the latest car have been given beige color. Apart from this, many premium features are expected to be provided including panoramic sunroof, a large 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver display of the same size, connected car technology, front armrest, a new steering wheel, automatic climate control, ceiling-mounted speakers and Harman Kardon sound system.

For safety, the Thar can be provided with 6 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold and descent control and a 360-degree camera. It can also include ADAS technology like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and autonomous emergency braking.

5-door Mahindra Thar: Expected engine options

Talking about performance, the 5-door Thar can get two engine options. It can have a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel unit and a 2.0-liter mStallion turbocharged petrol unit like the 3-door Thar.

Power and torque outputs may differ from the 3-door Thar, as the upcoming 5-door Thar will be much larger in size. Transmission options will include 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic gearboxes. Apart from this, the SUV will get the option of both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains.
