Light Rail Transit: The Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has approved the proposal to run Light Transit Rail (LRT) from Noida International Airport to Film City. An official said that this proposal has been sent to the Union Urban Housing Ministry. The official said that to make the journey of people coming to Noida International Airport easier, Light Transit Rail (LRT) will now also run on the tracks of ‘Namo Bharat’ and ‘Metro Line’. He said that LRT will operate from Film City to the airport in place of the previously proposed ‘pod taxi’.
Work on the project will start in two-three months
After getting approval from the state government for operating LRT on this 14 km long route, its proposal has been sent to the Union Urban Housing Ministry of the Government of India. It is expected that work on the project will start in the coming two-three months. In the board meeting of Yamuna Expressway Authority (YEIDA), a presentation of the project connecting Ghaziabad, Greater Noida West and Noida from the airport was given in front of Chairman Anil Sagar. It was told that the construction of the track between Ghaziabad and the airport, proposed in two phases, will now be done simultaneously.
Namo Bharat will run at the speed of 140 km per hour
As per the earlier plan, in the first phase a 39.39 km long track was to be built from Ghaziabad’s Siddharthnagar to Ecotech-6 and in the second phase a 32.90 km long track was to be built from Ecotech-6 to the airport. Namo Bharat will run at the speed of 140 km per hour on the completely elevated track. The official said that for completing the project the Government of India and the UP government will contribute 20-20 percent. NCRTC will spend 60 percent of the cost in its construction. In case of NCRTC’s inability, the funds will be arranged by Ghaziabad Vikas Pradhikaran, Greater Noida, Yamuna Vikas Pradhikaran and Noida International Private Limited.
The speed of LRT will be 21 km per hour.
Yamuna Authority CEO Dr Arun Vir Singh said that a special action plan has been prepared for running ‘Namo Bharat’, ‘Metro’ and ‘LRT’ on the same track. There will be no need to build a separate track of 14.6 km for this. The ‘Light Transit Rail’ will run at a speed of 21 km per hour. Singh said that the service gap between each metro will be 3.5 minutes, this gap between rapid rail will be 7 minutes and the service gap for LRT will be 8 minutes. He said that more than 20 thousand crore rupees will be spent on this project.
