Kartik Purnima 2024: The day of Kartik Purnima is of special importance for the worship of Lord Vishnu, Ganga bath, lamp donation, havan, yagya. The full moon of Kartik month is considered to be the most sacred and auspicious full moon of the year.
On this day, Lord Vishnu had the Matsya avatar. Therefore, this day is of great importance for the devotees of Vishnu. Lord Vishnu took this avatar to protect the Vedas, the Saptarishis, grains and King Satyavrat till the end of the deluge. The donation of food, money and clothes done on this day is also said to be of great importance. This full moon is also called Tripuri Purnima. On this day, service to the poor, needy, helpless and elderly has been said to be important. This year Kartik Purnima is on 15 November 2024.
It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva killed the demon Tripurasura. Starting from Kartiki Purnima, fasting and staying awake at night on every full moon fulfills all wishes. By taking some measures on the day of Kartik Purnima, wealth comes into the house.
Purnima Tithi
According to the Vedic calendar, the Purnima Tithi of Kartik month will begin at 6:19 am on November 15. At the same time, the Purnima Tithi will end the next day i.e. on November 16 at 2:58 am. In such a situation, Kartik Purnima will be celebrated on November 15.
Offer yellow kowries to Lakshmi Ji.
On the day of Kartik Purnima, one must offer kheer to Goddess Lakshmi. On the day of Kartik Purnima, offer yellow cowries to Lakshmi Ji during the Puja and keep these cowries in the safe the next day. It is said that doing so pleases Lakshmi Ji.
After taking a bath on the day of Kartik Purnima, offer milk mixed with sugar to the Peepal tree. It is a religious belief that doing so pleases Goddess Lakshmi and her blessings remain on the house.
Goddess Lakshmi is pleased by offering water to the moon on the day of Kartik Purnima and it is believed that by doing so, the position of the moon in the person’s horoscope also becomes stronger.
On the day of Kartik Purnima, taking bath in a holy river and offering lamps is considered extremely auspicious.
This shloka should be recited while taking bath on this day.
