‘Its a big loss for country’ says Karan Bhushan on Vinesh Phogat incident

BJP MP Karan Bhushan On Vinesh Phogat: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Karan Bhushan Singh called it a big loss for the country after Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the final match at the Paris Olympics 2024. Karan Bhushan Singh, son of former Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been a target of Vinesh Phogat, and Vice President of Wrestling Federation of India, said, “This is a loss for the country. The federation will take this into consideration and see what can be done.”

PM Modi called Vinesh a champion among champions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi consoled Vinesh Phogat soon after India suffered a major setback with her disqualification from the 50kg women’s wrestling final at the Paris Olympics. In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi called Vinesh a champion among champions.
He wrote, “Vinesh, you are a champion among champions! You are the pride of India and an inspiration to every Indian. Today’s setback is sad. I wish I could put into words the disappointment I am feeling. At the same time, I know you are the epitome of resilience. It has always been your nature to take on challenges head on. We are all in your support.”
 
PM Modi spoke to Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha
According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha and sought direct information from her on the issue as to what options India has after Vinesh Phogat’s defeat. PM Modi asked the IOA President to explore all options to help Vinesh Phogat in her case. Sources said that he asked PT Usha to lodge a strong protest regarding her disqualification if it helps Vinesh.
