Donald Trump’s security was increased before the attack on him on Saturday. Actually, American officials had received information that Iran was plotting to assassinate him. According to the BBC report, officials also say that there is no direct connection between the alleged Iranian conspiracy and the assassination attempt on the former president in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
Although security was tightened following the revelation, questions remain about how 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks got so close to climbing a building and shooting at Trump.
Security was increased in June
According to a US national security official, the US Secret Service and the Trump campaign team were informed about the Iranian threat, and security was increased after that.
According to the BBC, intelligence sources said the Secret Service had beefed up security in June in response to the Iranian threat. This included additional counter-attack and counter-sniper agents, drones and robot dogs.
