Bihar Smart Meter: Consumer gets electricity bill of Rs 18,56,132 for four months, department cut off the connection

Bihar Smart Meter:  Installing a smart meter proved costly for a family in Katihar, Bihar. Here in Kodha block area, a consumer has received an electricity bill of Rs 18 lakh 56 thousand 132 for the last four months. Not only this, the electricity department cut off the electricity connection of the house. After which the consumer’s family is upset.

According to the information, the matter is of ward number 12 of North Simaria Panchayat of Kodha block area, where consumer Makku Tudu has received an electricity bill of Rs 18 lakh 56 thousand 132 for the last four months. The consumer’s family says that in the month of August this year, the postpaid meter was removed and a prepaid meter was installed. After which the electricity bill of the last two months was pending, in lieu of which the department sent such a high bill that the electricity connection was cut off. At the same time, the problems of consumers have increased.

People of Ward No. 12 allege that such a high bill has come due to the negligence of the Electricity Department. Similar flaws are found in the meters installed by the department. Consumer Makku Tudu has appealed to the officials of the Electricity Department to immediately review and correct the bill. However, no cognizance is being taken by the officials and employees of the Electricity Department.
