Ashwin to set a flurry of records, can leave Nathan Lyon and Courtney Walsh behind

Ashwin India vs Bangladesh:  The two-match Test series between India and Bangladesh is going to start from September 19. In this series to be played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, facing the world’s number-2 team India will prove to be a tough challenge for Bangladesh. All eyes are on India’s star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin has always been a star on home pitches and he can prove to be a big challenge for the Bangladeshi batsmen. The Indian team led by Rohit Sharma has high expectations from Ashwin.

King of test cricket

Ashwin is one of the most successful spinners in the world. His variations of off-spin always create problems for the opposing team. Along with bowling, Ashwin is also a useful batsman and has rescued the team from difficult situations many times. Ashwin dominates on spin-friendly pitches in India. His balls often trap batsmen by bouncing off the ground. Bangladeshi batsmen will have to be very cautious to face Ashwin’s bowling.

On the way to break Zaheer Khan’s record

Ashwin has taken 23 wickets in 6 Test matches against Bangladesh so far. He is close to becoming the Indian bowler to take the most wickets against Bangladesh. Currently this record is in the name of Zaheer Khan, who has taken 31 wickets in 7 Test matches. Fast bowler Ishant Sharma is in second place in this case. He has taken 25 wickets in 7 matches.

Nathan Lyon will go ahead of Pat Cummins

Ashwin has played 35 matches so far in the World Test Championship (WTC) which started in 2019. During this time he has taken 174 wickets. He is third among the bowlers who have taken the most wickets in the World Test Championship. Australia’s Nathan Lyon is first and captain Pat Cummins is second. Lyon has taken 187 wickets in 43 matches. Cummins has 175 wickets in 42 matches. If Ashwin takes 2 wickets, he will be ahead of Cummins. To leave Lyon behind, he will have to take 14 wickets.

Chance to leave Walsh behind

Ashwin has played 100 Test matches for India and has scored 3309 runs with 516 wickets. He is at number nine in the list of bowlers who have taken the most wickets in Tests. He will have a chance to reach number eight. If he takes 4 wickets in the series, he will leave behind former West Indies bowler Courtney Walsh. Walsh has taken 519 wickets in 132 matches.
