America’s ‘double game’ amid Iran-Israel conflict, ‘business’ is hidden in the message of peace

Israel-Hamas War: After the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, Iran had vowed to take revenge from Israel. Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei had said that Israel’s nefarious act on our soil will be avenged. Since then, the situation in West Asia has deteriorated completely. Amidst the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas on Gaza, this threat had such an impact that many countries of the world, including America, started trying to somehow avoid a direct war between Israel and Iran.

On one hand, America is constantly issuing warnings in view of the danger of imminent war, on the other hand, it is also seen trying to mediate. Along with this, it is not missing any opportunity to take advantage of this unstable situation. However, America wants to avoid war at any cost because in case of an open war, it will have to openly support Israel. There is also a presidential election in America in November. Therefore, it is natural for this issue to have an impact on American politics as well.

Amidst this changing situation, US President Joe Biden has surprised everyone by saying that if one thing is done, Iran can avert its possible attack against Israel. He has indicated that if a ceasefire deal is reached in Gaza, Iran can avert its plans. Talking to reporters about this, Joe Biden said that I have such hope. Along with this, he also said that let’s see what Iran does if there is an attack, but I have not given up hope.

Arms lobby doing business
Although the US wants to restore peace in West Asia, the White House is also in action mode on the other hand. Earlier this week, it was said that Foreign Minister Antony Blinken would go there to talk to all parties. Foreign Ministry Deputy Spokesperson Vedant Patel had also said that Blinken is constantly trying to restore peace in that area and is in touch with all parties to end the instability. But on the other hand, Blinken’s proposed visit was suddenly postponed on Tuesday and on the same day he talked about giving equipment including fighter jets worth $20 billion to Israel.

Under this, Blinken approved the decision to sell more than 50 F-15 jets to Israel for $19 billion. Along with this, tank cartridges for $774 million, explosive mortar cartridges for $60 million and army vehicles for $583 million were announced.

However, this sale of military equipment will be possible only in the next few years. According to reports, the delivery of F-15 will be in 2029. This gives strong indications that while Washington is trying to restore peace on one hand, on the other hand, the American military-industry arms lobby is not missing the opportunity to take advantage of the unstable situation in West Asia and weapons are being sold.
