Kisan Se Baat: Many schemes are being run by the central government to double the income of farmers and make them financially strong. Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM Kisan Samman Nidhi) is the most ambitious scheme of the government. Under this, farmers are given financial assistance of Rs 6000 annually.
Now another initiative is being taken by the Modi government to give better yield to the farmers and make them financially strong. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan announced that the government will start a monthly radio program ‘Kisan Se Baat’ to provide scientific information related to farming to the farmers.
Farmers will get a platform for discussion
This program is being launched inspired by Prime Minister Modi’s popular radio program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. Its purpose is to provide a platform to farmers to interact with the minister, agricultural scientists and ministry officials. Emphasizing the need to transfer scientific benefits to farmers quickly, Chauhan said, ‘Farmers often lack information, which leads to misuse of pesticides. We need to pay attention to this.’
Likely to start from September
A government official said that this program will be started from September. It may be started a week before the Prime Minister’s radio program. During a program on Thursday, the Union Agriculture Minister said, “During this, we will discuss different aspects of farming. This includes good farming methods, new technology and new ways to increase production.”
The aim is to turn the country into the ‘food basket of the world’
‘Kisan Se Baat’ is part of a larger strategy to revive India’s agriculture sector. Chauhan stressed the importance of integrating Krishi Vigyan Kendras with the needs of farmers and promoting discussions among agricultural workers. The minister said in a program organized on Independence Day, “Our aim is to turn India into the ‘food basket of the world’.” On this occasion, he also launched the National Pest Surveillance System (NPSS). Farmers also participated during the program.
Chauhan thanked Prime Minister Modi for giving priority to farmers and said that previous governments had made the mistake of not inviting farmers to the Independence Day celebrations. Ministers of State for Agriculture Ramnath Thakur and Bhagirath Chaudhary as well as ICAR Director General Himanshu Pathak also attended the event.
