First Pradosh fast of Sawan today

In Sanatan Dharma, Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati are worshiped according to the rituals. Pradosh fast is observed on the Trayodashi date of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha of every month. According to the belief, Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on the day of Pradosh fast. Pradosh Vrat Puja is especially done during Pradosh period and this worship has great importance.

This time the first Pradosh fast of Sawan is falling on August 1, Thursday. Due to falling on Thursday, it will be called Guru Pradosh Vrat. Let us know about the worship method, auspicious time and rules of Pradosh Vrat.

Importance of Guru Pradosh Vrat The
importance of Guru Pradosh Vrat has also been mentioned in ‘Shiva Purana’. According to mythological story, Indra had conquered the demon Vrittasura by observing Guru Pradosh Vrat.

The auspicious time of Pradosh fast
is starting from 03:28 pm on the Trayodashi date of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month on 1 August 2024. At the same time, this date will end on 2 August at 03:26 pm. In such a situation, the first Pradosh fast of Sawan will be kept on August 1, Thursday.

Important rules of Pradosh Vrat:
On the day of Guru Pradosh Vrat, go to any Shiva temple and offer dry coconut on the Shivling. It is believed that doing so relieves diseases and improves health.

To remove negative energy from the house and bring prosperity in the house, Ganga water should be sprinkled throughout the house on the day of Pradosh Vrat.

Turmeric or vermilion should never be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. It is believed that by doing so, the fruits of worship are not achieved.

Tulsi leaves should not be used in the worship of Lord Shiva. Tulsi leaves should not be offered even on the Shivling.
