Meta apologized for Mark Zuckerberg’s statement, calls it unintentional

Meta India has issued an apology following comments made by its CEO Mark Zuckerberg that were deemed offensive by a certain subset. In one of his comments, he apparently concluded that the reason India’s government lost the elections was due to its strategy during the Kovid-19 crisis. He was unaware that the 2022 Lok Sabha elections were completely different and ended quite recently making that claim quite inappropriate.

Linked to this, the Parliamentary Committee concluded that Meta and its officials should be invited for parliamentary discussions. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav also put out comments regarding this on social media. Meta has issued an apology and has referred to the collage the president made as an ‘on the part of the metaverse zone’.

Meta responded regarding Ashwini Vaishnav’s comments and said that it was not possible for Mark Zuckerberg to try and insult all ruling parties across the globe. This blunder owes to Mark Zuckerberg pointing out that the statement made was to the ruling parties. That being said, the relations with India are still relevant Meta, and for the future, India will remain crucial.

On the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Mark Zuckerberg criticized that due to the poor handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, the current Modi government lost the elections in 2024. After Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav’s remark on this assertion, it was resolved by the parliamentary committee to summon Meta. In social media handles X, and Facebook, Ashwini Vaishnav has directly addressed Mark Zuckerberg. In this podcast, Zuckerberg blamed the management during the Corona era for the Indian government and many other governments for losing the elections.

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav stated that the Modi government catered to the needs of the people with a fine example of social responsibility. He tweeted that during Covid, the government distributed free ration for 800 million people alongside 2.2 billion free vaccines. This situation is what enabled India to remain the fastest growing economy across the globe, which in return for PM Modi, secured the elections for the third time.
