Once this Pace bowler was about to jump from 19th floor

Mohammed Shami is considered one of India’s best fast bowlers in recent times, but his journey has been full of challenges. He has been the highest wicket-taker for India in the last three ODI World Cups. The personal life of this brilliant bowler has also been in the headlines for many years. Sometimes Shami has been troubled by tension in the family and sometimes by his own injuries.

The wife had made many allegations

Shami is living separately from his wife Hasin Jahan. Hasin had filed a complaint of domestic violence against him. Hasin Jahan also accused Shami of match fixing by taking money from a Pakistani woman. Although Shami was later cleared of these allegations by the authorities, his friend Umesh Yadav revealed in Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast that during that time Shami had thought of committing suicide.

He was saddened by the match-fixing allegations

Umesh said on the podcast, “Shami was fighting everything during that period. He used to live with me in my house, but when the allegations of match fixing with Pakistan were made and the investigation started that night, he broke down. He said that I can bear everything but not the allegations of treason.”

Shami was standing in the balcony

Umesh further said, “It was also reported that he wanted to take some extreme step that night. He wanted to commit suicide. When I woke up at around 4 am to drink water and was going towards the kitchen, I saw him standing on the balcony. We lived on the 19th floor. I understood what had happened. I think that night was the longest in Shami’s career. Later, one day when we were talking, a message came on his phone that the investigating committee had given him a clean chit. Perhaps that day he was happier than winning the World Cup.”

Shami had spoken from his heart

Shami also spoke openly in an interview about his struggle and what he faced during that time. He said, “It depends on what you give more priority to and then on the other person, how true his words are. So when you know that the actions of the other person are invalid and not important to you, you should not give up your priorities. If I was not Mohammed Shami today, no one would care about my situation nor would the media be interested in it. Then why should I give up the thing that made me Shami. So you should keep fighting.”
