Tulsi Vivah 2024: Tulsi plant is considered very sacred in Hinduism and has special significance in worship. Mother Lakshmi is believed to reside in the Tulsi plant. It is said in the scriptures that all other gods and goddesses and all Hindu pilgrimages reside in the lower branches and stem of Tulsi. In the month of Kartik, special worship of Tulsi plant is done and marriage is performed. Tulsi marriage is done on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. This auspicious day symbolizes the union of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Tulsi. Every year on Devuthani Ekadashi, the marriage of Shaligram Ji, the form of Shri Hari, and Goddess Tulsi is performed.
When is Tulsi Vivah?
According to the Panchang, Kartik Ekadashi Tithi will be from 6.42 pm on Tuesday, November 12 to 7.24 pm on Wednesday, November 13. According to the Udaya Tithi, Tulsi Vivah will be celebrated on the evening of November 13.
Things to do on the day of Tulsi Vivah
Clean the Tulsi plant thoroughly and worship it.
Bathe the Tulsi plant with Gangajal.
Decorate the Tulsi plant with flowers and roli.
Clean the Shaligram Shila thoroughly and worship it.
Bathe the Shaligram Shila with Gangajal.
Decorate the Shaligram Shila with flowers and roli.
Decorate a small pavilion for the marriage of Tulsi and Shaligram.
Chant mantras during the wedding. An Acharya can be called to read the Puja Vidhi and Katha.
Donation of Tulsi after the wedding is considered auspicious. Donating food or clothes to the poor is auspicious.
