Atishi Marlena to take charge as new CM of Delhi

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) founder Arvind Kejriwal will resign from the post of Chief Minister of Delhi. Atishi will now take charge of Delhi in place of Kejriwal.

The party unanimously agreed on Atishi on Tuesday. Arvind Kejriwal proposed her name as his successor in a meeting of party MLAs.

Let us tell you that Atishi is the main face of the party as well as the government and she holds many departments including Finance, Education and PWD.

Kejriwal had announced his decision to resign from the post of Chief Minister on Sunday. He had said that he would sit on the Chief Minister’s chair only when the people give him a “certificate of honesty”.

Kejriwal demands early elections in Delhi

After being released from Tihar jail on bail in the excise policy case, AAP national convener Kejriwal had said on Sunday that he would resign within 48 hours and demand early elections in Delhi.

He had said that until the people give him a “certificate of honesty”, he will not sit on the Chief Minister’s chair. Kejriwal had said that he will hold a meeting of AAP MLAs in a few days and a leader of the party will become the Chief Minister.

AAP held several meetings on Monday. Kejriwal held one-to-one meetings with members of the party’s highest decision-making body – Political Affairs Committee (PAC) – at his official residence and sought their opinion on the next chief minister.
