Government changes rules for buying new SIM, porting becomes easier

The government has made major changes in the process of purchasing SIM cards through the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). Now it has become much easier and safer to buy SIM cards from major telecom operators like Airtel, Jio, BSNL and Vi. Under these new rules, the entire process has become paperless, making it more convenient and fraud-free for Indian users.

No need to go to the store anymore

With the new rules, you no longer need to visit the telecom company’s office to buy a SIM card or change your telecom operator. The entire process has become online. So, if you want to get a new SIM card or change your telecom operator, you can verify your documents online without any hassle.

The government has given information about the new rules on X. These rules will stop fraud and make it easier to buy SIM cards. The government’s goal is to protect people from fraud and make India a digital country. The government has started e-KYC and self KYC. Now you do not need to go to the telecom company’s office to buy a SIM card or change from prepaid to postpaid or postpaid to prepaid. You can do everything online.

There will be no fraud

With the new system, people’s documents will not be misused. Now fake SIM cards will not be made. This will reduce fraud.
