Radha Ashtami 2024: Worship of Vrishbhanu Kumari Radha has special significance in Sanatan Dharma. Radha is also known as Radhika. Devotees worship her as a Hindu goddess. Radharani is called the goddess of love, tenderness, compassion and devotion. There is a ritual of worshipping Radha Rani on the auspicious occasion of Radha Ashtami.

It is believed that on this day devotees keep fast and worship Radha Rani with full devotion to get the blessings of the presiding goddess of Vraj. The special splendor of Radha Janmotsav is seen in Barsana. According to mythological beliefs, Radha Rani was born in Rawal village and Kishori ji grew up in Barsana.

The birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna’s beloved Radha Rani is celebrated on the Ashtami date of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. That is, the festival of Radha Ashtami comes 15 days after Krishna Janmashtami.

According to the Hindi calendar, this year the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month is starting on Tuesday, September 10 at 11:11 pm and this date will end on Wednesday, September 11 at 11:46 pm. Based on the Udaya Tithi, the holy festival of Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on September 11.

Vrishbhanu Kumari
According to Padma Purana, Radha was the daughter of a Vaishya gopa named Vrishbhanu. Her mother’s name was Kirti. Radha’s first name was Vrishbhanu Kumari. Barsana was the residence of Radha’s father Vrishbhanu.
