Electric car sales declined, know how many were sold in June

Car sales have declined amid increasing competition in the production of electric vehicles. The Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA) has released electric car sales figures for the last month. According to this, EV sales in June declined by 13.51 percent year-on-year.

Despite the growing popularity among customers, electric vehicle sales faltered slightly in June. The number of electric cars sold fell to 6,894 last month from 7,971 sold in the same month last year. This is 9.74 percent less on a monthly basis compared to 7,638 sold in May this year and is also less than the sales of April (7,415).

Tata Motors
topped the list of electric car sales with 58.6 per cent share with sales of 4,346 vehicles last month.
In comparison, the carmaker sold 5,485 EVs in June 2023 and 5,083 EVs in May 2024.

MG Motors
stood at number 2, MG Motors’ sales grew 21.12 per cent year-on-year to 1,405 as against 1,160 in June 2023. Mahindra was at number three by selling 446 electric cars last month.

Citroen’s sales declined
Car manufacturer Citroen stood at the fourth spot with 236 cars sold as against 336 vehicles sold in the same month last year. This shows a decline of 29.76 per cent.

Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD ranked fifth on the list, selling 229 vehicles last month.
Hyundai (61), BMW (50), Mercedes-Benz and Volvo (41), Kia (15) and Audi (15) ranked sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth respectively in sales.
