‘India is exaggerating the attack on Hindus’ Bangladesh government chief Yunus makes a big allegation

 

Muhammad Yunus’s Statement Regarding India : The head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, has made a big allegation against India. Yunus claimed that attacks on minorities in Bangladesh are not communal but politically motivated and India is exaggerating the attacks on Hindus. However, the head of the interim government of Bangladesh has also expressed a desire to improve relations with India.

In fact, after the coup of Sheikh Hasina’s government on August 5 in Bangladesh, there were reports of attacks on minorities, especially Hindus. Their temples and businesses were targeted. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed concern about this in his speech on the occasion of Independence Day on August 15. At the same time, Mohammad Yunus has reacted to India’s concern about minorities in Bangladesh.

“These attacks are political in nature, not communal. And India is trying to make a big deal out of these incidents. We have not said we can do nothing to stop this; we have said we are doing everything,” Yunus told news agency PTI, claiming that Bangladesh is in safe hands even after Sheikh Hasina.

Nobel laureate Yunus said, “The way forward for India is to come out of this narrative. The narrative is that everyone is Islamist, BNP is Islamist, and everyone else is Islamist and will turn this country into Afghanistan.” He said, “India has a perception that Bangladesh is in safe hands only under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. India is stuck with this narrative. India, like any other country, needs to come out of this narrative.”

The head of Bangladesh’s interim government expressed a desire for stronger ties with India and called for greater cooperation to improve strained relations. “Our relationship is at a low point and we need to work together to improve it,” he said.

Yunus has objected to Sheikh Hasina issuing any statement about Bangladesh while she is in India. He said, “If India wants to keep her with them until the Bangladesh government wants her back, the condition will be that she will have to keep quiet.”
