Employees protest outside SEBI office in Mumbai

Mumbai: Sebi Employees Protest: SEBI employees protested against the top management outside the office on 5 September. A person associated with the matter said that SEBI employees are angry with the five-page denial given to the media. The note said that the claims of unprofessional work culture in SEBI are misleading. External elements influenced junior employees to demand higher salary despite poor performance.

SEBI employees are angry with the information given to the media. In fact, 500 employees of SEBI had made serious allegations against the top management in a complaint letter sent to the Finance Ministry and made them aware of their problems.

They also protested by observing a 15-minute silent demonstration

SEBI employees said that this protest is only a mock drill. They will continue this in the future as well. Employees said that their protest is against SEBI’s toxic work culture. If their demands are not met, the protest will continue in the future. Out of 1000 SEBI employees, about 500 had sent a complaint letter to the Finance Ministry on 6th August. In this, SEBI’s top leadership was accused of toxic work culture, unrealistic targets and macro managing. During the protest, a 15-minute silent protest was also held by the employees. The complaint also mentioned the top management’s working style and shouting.

Essel Group chairman had also made the allegation.
SEBI employees have demanded the resignation of SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch. Also said that the email issued by the SEBI official should be withdrawn. In the complaint made by SEBI employees, it was told that ‘shouting, scolding and publicly humiliating employees in meetings has become common.

Let us tell you that all this matter has come to light when SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch has been accused of conflict of interest regarding the regulator’s investigation related to Adani Group. Earlier, Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra had accused SEBI Chief Madhabi Puri Buch of corruption.

The letter written by the employees titled ‘Grievances of Sebi Officers-A Call for Respect’ also stated that the leadership team headed by Buch uses ‘harsh and unprofessional language’ with the members. Their ‘minute-by-minute’ activities are monitored. This is the first time in the history of SEBI that its officers have raised concerns about unfriendly employee practices.
