New Delhi. In the Parliament Security Breach Case, the Special Cell of Delhi Police has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the court on Monday. In this case, the accused will now be produced in court on August 2 and the hearing will take place. In this case, Delhi Governor VK Saxena has approved to prosecute all the accused under UAPA. Now the police has filed a chargesheet in the Patiala House Court.
1000 page chargesheet filed
On June 7, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had filed a chargesheet of nearly 1,000 pages against all the six accused arrested in the case — Manaranjan D, Lalit Jha, Amol Shinde, Mahesh Kumawat, Sagar Sharma and Neelam Azad.
Case will be filed against the accused under UAPA
In this case, Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has given permission to prosecute six accused under the Unlawful Activity (Prevention) Act (UAPA). These people are accused of allegedly attacking Parliament during the proceedings of the House on 13 December 2023. It is alleged that people named Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Neelam, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat illegally entered Parliament. Also threw smoke cans in the Lok Sabha during the ongoing session. In this case, the Delhi Police had requested the Lieutenant Governor for their prosecution under sections 16 and 18 of the UAPA. The LG granted prosecution approval after finding sufficient material on record.
Before this approval, the Review Committee (DoP, Tis Hazari, Delhi) also examined the entire evidence collected by the investigating agency on May 30. The investigation found the involvement of the accused in the Parliament attack case. In view of this, the Review Committee found that prima facie a case under UAPA is made out against the accused. Delhi Police registered an FIR under IPC and UA (P) Act at Parliament Street Police Station on the complaint made by the security officer in Lok Sabha. Later the investigation of the case was transferred from Parliament Street Police Station to Counter Intelligence Unit of PS Special Cell, New Delhi. During the investigation, the above six accused were arrested and currently all of them are in judicial custody.
