X Platform Banned in Brazil: Elon Musk’s micro-blogging site X, one of the richest people in the world, is counted among the most popular social media platforms. Its number of active users is in crores. However, using this platform in Brazil can prove costly for people. They will even have to pay a fine of about Rs 7.5 lakh every day.
In fact, Brazil’s Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes had banned the social media platform X, which has now come into effect. The judge had asked to appoint a new legal representative of X in Brazil, but the company’s owner Elon Musk ignored this. Now the Brazilian telecommunications authorities have been given 24 hours to block X.
It is being told that after the ban in Brazil, users accessing X via VPN will be fined about $ 8874 (about Rs 7.5 lakh) every day. Apart from this, Apple and Google have been given 5 days to block X from their app stores. Internet service providers have also got 5 days to block Musk’s social media platform.
In his order, Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Moraes said that X is helping to create a completely illegal environment in Brazilian social networks and this includes the local elections of 2024. He said that the company has repeatedly and deliberately disrespected the court order.
According to the report, Musk closed X’s office in Brazil earlier this month in protest of a court order to take down some accounts that were spreading misinformation.
