Test Cricket Rest Day: The New Zealand team is going to tour Sri Lanka next month in September. A two-Test match series will be played between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on this tour. The schedule for which has been released. However, the first match of this series will be completed in six days instead of five days. At the same time, a Test match usually lasts for a maximum of five days.

Actually, the first test match between Sri Lanka and New Zealand (SL vs NZ 1st Test Match) will be played at Galle International Stadium from 18 September, but the last day of the match will not be 22 September but 23 September. There will be no match on 21 September due to the Sri Lanka Presidential Election. This will be a rest day.

This is not the first time that a test match has lasted for six days. Earlier in 2008, a rest day was seen in the test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in Dhaka. Then due to the parliamentary elections, the rest day was observed on 29 December.

Sri Lanka last played a 6-day Test match against Zimbabwe in Colombo in 2001. At that time, there was a rest day in Sri Lanka due to Poya Day (full moon). Let us tell you that in earlier times, rest day was common in Test matches. In Tests held in England, there was often a rest day on Sunday. However, now rest day is not seen in Test cricket.
