‘America, I gave you my best’ – Biden’s tears flowed in farewell speech

US News:  US President Joe Biden took center stage on the opening night of the Democratic National Convention on Monday, receiving a long standing ovation from his supporters and delivering a farewell speech to the party he has served for half a century, even though he has five months left in office. He also got emotional during this time. He came on stage after being introduced by his daughter Ashley and wife Jill. After hugging Ashley, he held a tissue to his eyes to wipe away tears.

‘ I love you
People were holding banners in their hands on which was written ‘We love Biden with all our hearts.’ Biden also told the people, ‘I love you.’

“Are you ready to vote for freedom? Are you ready to vote for democracy and America? I ask you, are you ready to choose Kamala Harris and Tim Walz?” Biden said.

‘ Choosing Harris was my best decision
Biden gave his message of full support to Harris at the beginning of the four-day program with his address in Chicago. He said, ‘Choosing Kamala was my first decision when I became the party’s candidate and it is the best decision of my entire career. She is tough, experienced and has a lot of integrity.’

Biden took the decision to step down from the presidency on July 21 under heavy pressure from party leaders. Most people in the party were concerned that the 81-year-old president had become too old to win another election and remain in office for four years.

Harris is currently receiving widespread support. Her campaign has broken records for fundraising. Even some election surveys are pointing to Harris’ victory.

‘ I gave my heart and soul to this country
The US President said, ‘I like my job, but I love my country more.’ At the end of his address, he said, ‘Like many of you, I have also dedicated my heart and soul to this nation.’ He said, ‘America, I gave you my best.’

After the president finished his speech, Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, stepped forward to hug Biden and his wife, Jill. After the hug, the vice president told Biden, “I love you.”
