Passports of 2000 beggars were cancelled, know why

India’s neighboring country Pakistan has become bankrupt. The whole country is trapped in a severe economic crisis. Inflation is skyrocketing and due to lack of money, Pakistan is begging for economic help from institutions like the World Bank and the IMF.

The situation is such that Pakistani citizens are begging not only in the country but also abroad. To avoid infamy, the Pakistan Government has now decided to curb beggars. The government is cancelling the passports of those begging abroad.

According to a report by Pakistan’s Dawn News, the Pakistan government has decided to suspend the passports of more than 2,000 professional beggars who used to go abroad and beg, thereby damaging the country’s image. The report says that a list of such people from Pakistan who are begging in foreign countries has been asked to be collected from Pakistani embassies around the world.

The report quoted sources as saying that passports of people caught begging outside Pakistan can be suspended for seven years. Pakistani officials said that begging abroad not only damages Pakistan’s reputation but also reduces the respect of its citizens. This is the reason why the Pakistani government has gone after the beggars of its country in this way.
