Why Divorce Rate Is Increasing In India: Generally, marriage is considered a relationship of life and death, because it is a very traditional country. Here marriage means that you belong to that one person forever. Even though India’s divorce rate is much lower than that of Western countries, there has been a tremendous increase in divorce cases in the last one or two decades. Let’s try to understand why marriages are breaking so much in India
Reasons behind the increasing number of divorce cases
1. Busy lifestyle
In today’s time, due to the hustle and bustle of life, there is a huge communication gap between husband and wife. If both husband and wife go to office and their timings and professional commitments are different, then the emotional distance increases, which can sometimes become the reason for misunderstanding, in such a situation divorce is not surprising.
2. Change in social thinking
Earlier divorce was considered a bad name, so it was not easy for anyone to take such a decision, but gradually it is getting approval in the society. Especially in urban areas, breaking a marriage is no longer so strange.
3. Awareness of women
In the last few decades, the female literacy rate has increased rapidly, which has given them the opportunity to become financially independent and empowered. They have learned to take their own decisions. When they do not get the right to live after marriage, it is easier for them to get a divorce than before because now they are not at the mercy of their husband. The legal awareness of women is also higher than before, so they know their legal rights well.
4. Ego problems
Nowadays it is often seen that both husband and wife have a lot of ego problems. Relationships survive only when one person is angry, the other stays calm and tries to convince. If due to ego both of them fight repeatedly like enemies, then it is obvious that the marriage will not survive.
5. Increase in love marriages
In earlier times, usually the relationships were decided by parents and elders of the family, so in case of any kind of discord, it was their responsibility to save the marriage. On the contrary, in the present times, more love marriages are taking place than before. The dreams that the youth have about love marriage are often not fulfilled after marriage. In such a situation, they themselves take the decision of divorce because generally family support is less in love marriage.
