Creamy layer issue in reservation: Mayawati attacks Modi government

Lucknow. BSP supremo Mayawati held a press conference on Saturday. During this, she said that the central government should clarify its position by bringing a law in the Parliament against the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the implementation of creamy layer in reservation and sub-categorization. The central government did not strongly advocate this very important matter related to Scheduled Castes and Tribes in the Supreme Court, otherwise such a decision would not have been taken.

During this, BSP supremo Mayawati also raised the issue of caste census. She said that it is the responsibility of the central government to conduct caste census. BSP has been in favor of this from before. At the same time, during this time, she targeted BJP, Congress and SP.

She said that all of them have been against the reservation of SC and ST classes. In the Lok Sabha elections 2024, Congress-SP and other parties got the support of these classes by talking about saving reservation and the Constitution, due to which BSP, the true well-wisher of these classes, has suffered. Now these parties have also become silent. They should also clarify their position.

Along with this, she said that assurances given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not work. The central government should call a session of Parliament and clarify the status of reservation in the case of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Creamy Layer.

Along with this, the states in which there are governments of Congress, BJP and Apna Dal should also clarify the situation regarding reservation. Along with this, Mayawati alleged that the Modi government did not plead properly on this issue in the Supreme Court.
