Yes, the Modi government at the Center is going to increase the scope of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY). The government had announced in the budget about the second phase of the scheme. Now the income slab for the middle income class (MIG) in cities and the assistance given by the central government for the economically weaker (EWS) will be increased.

Cabinet note of new guideline prepared

According to the news published in Dainik Bhaskar, the cabinet note for the new guidelines is ready for this. There are preparations to place this note in the Union Cabinet meeting in the month of August itself. Currently, the families coming under the EWS category are given financial assistance of Rs 1.5 lakh by the government to build a house. Officials associated with this whole matter told that after getting approval from the cabinet, PMAY 2.0 can be implemented in the month of August itself with the new guidelines.

The amount of interest subsidy will be increased!
The main objective of PMAY is to increase the amount of interest subsidy for the Middle Income Group i.e. MIG. The objective behind this is to provide houses to those people who could not be included in the first phase under the scheme. Let us tell you that under the housing scheme, families with an income of Rs 6 to 12 lakh per year are placed in the MIG-1 category and families with an income of Rs 12 to 18 lakh are placed in the MIG-2 category.

What is the preparation?
Under the PMAY 2.0 scheme, there is a target of building one crore houses for the urban poor and middle class with Rs 10 lakh crore. Rs 2.20 lakh crore will be spent with central assistance. Apart from this, there is a plan to provide 2 crore additional houses in rural areas. Let us tell you that by the year 2022, 25 lakh people had taken advantage of CLSS.

What is the benefit to the middle class?
During the first phase of PMAY, MIG was given the benefit of Credit Linked Subsidy (CLSS) till the year 2022. Under the scheme, there was a provision of giving interest subsidy of 4% and 3% respectively on a loan of up to Rs 9 lakh on a 160 square meter house for MIG-1 buyers and Rs 12 lakh on a house with a carpet area of 200 square meters for MIG-2 buyers. In some cities, building a house costs more. Therefore, the maximum limit of home loan on which the benefit of interest subsidy is given is expected to be increased to Rs 12 lakh or more.

What is PMAY?
The full form of PMAY is Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. This is an ambitious scheme of the Government of India, whose aim was to provide a home to all Indians by 2022. Now the second phase of this scheme has been announced in the budget. Under the scheme, the government provides financial assistance for housing construction in both urban and rural areas.

The aim of PMAY
is to provide cheap and affordable housing to all Indians. The aim of this scheme is to free the urban poor from slums and provide them with proper housing and give women the right to ownership of housing. This creates employment opportunities related to housing construction.
