Manali. There has been heavy destruction due to cloudburst near Manali in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. After cloudburst in Anjani Mahadev Nala near Palchan on Manali-Leh Highway at midnight, there was a flood. Floodwater started flowing over the Palchan bridge, damaging the road. Not only this, big stones and debris got accumulated on the bridge. There were queues of vehicles on both sides of the bridge. Due to this, the movement of vehicles on Manali-Leh Highway has come to a halt.
Police and administration teams are engaged in relief and rescue work. According to information received from the administration, two houses, a bridge and an electricity project have been damaged due to cloudburst. However, there is no report of any casualties. The district administration is busy assessing the damage caused by the flood.
In view of the rising water level of the river, the district administration has issued an alert and advised people not to go towards the rivers and streams. The flood caused chaos in Palchan, Ruad and Kulang Village. People living in the houses ran away and saved their lives. The flood has washed away the house of Dhani Ram and Khimi Devi while Suresh’s house has been damaged.
According to the local people, the Anjani Mahadev River flooded around midnight. The flood caused a terrible sound in the river. Due to this, even people sleeping in deep sleep woke up. People living on the river bank left their homes and came to safe places. People have saved their lives by running away from the flood in the river but people have suffered heavy losses.
Meanwhile, Lahaul Spiti Police has issued an advisory on social media and written that Manali to Leh National Highway (NH-003) is closed for all vehicles from Dhundi to Palchan due to cloudburst. Due to this, all vehicles are being sent to Manali via Rohtang Pass from Atal Tunnel North Port. In such a situation, try alternative routes and travel only when absolutely necessary.
