Assam govt joins hand with Tata group for semiconductor plant

An important agreement has been signed between Tata Group and the Government of Assam for the semiconductor plant, which has become the key to development in the new century. The Assam government on Tuesday signed an agreement with the Tata Group, under which the company will lease more than 170 acres of land at Jagiroad in Morigaon district for a semiconductor plant worth Rs 27,000 crore.

This is expected to create about 30,000 jobs in Assam. This plant is going to bring many big opportunities for the northeastern states including Assam.

The 60-year lease agreement was finalised at the sub-registrar’s office by Tata Group board member Ranjan Bandopadhyay and Assam Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) manager (technical) and project in-charge Dheeraj Pegu.

Tata Group has made big plans to make India move ahead rapidly in the semiconductor sector. This plant (Semiconductor Plant) to be built in Assam is an important step in that direction.
