15 percent of Amazon employees may lose their jobs

Amazon Layoffs: Amazon is once again planning to cut its workforce on a large scale. A recent mema released by the company’s CEO Andy Jassy suggests that Amazon is likely preparing for another potential wave of job cuts. In internal communications, Jassy indicated that the company is set to implement major changes aimed at streamlining its workforce. The tech giant aims to reduce the number of managers across its various departments by 15 percent by the end of the first quarter of 2025.

The Mamo highlighted that reducing the number of managers and increasing the proportion of individual contributors would make the organisational structure more efficient and agile.

The e-commerce giant also reduced its workforce on a large scale last year. Amazon fired 27,000 employees from its various departments globally in 2023.

The layoffs were one of the biggest job cuts in the tech sector last year. The company aims to streamline its workforce and reduce its expenses by reducing its headcount.

Jassy also noted that the company’s People Experience and Technology (PxT) team will work closely with Amazon leadership to implement these changes in the coming months.
