The results of Haryana assembly elections have been declared and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won a majority by winning 48 seats. At the same time, Congress has got 37 seats. Apart from this, Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has won 2 seats and independent candidates have won 3 seats. This time 13 women candidates have been elected (Women MLA) in the 90-member assembly in Haryana, while in the 2019 assembly elections, eight women candidates became MLAs.
BJP has 5 women MLAs and Congress has 7 women MLAs
A total of 1,031 candidates, including 464 independents and 101 women, were in the fray in the elections held on October 5 in Haryana. Five women MLAs elected to the state assembly are from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and seven women MLAs are from the Congress. Apart from this, independent candidate Savitri Jindal has won from the Hisar assembly seat. She defeated Congress’s Ram Niwas Rada by a margin of 18941 votes. Savitri Jindal is the mother of BJP MP from Kurukshetra and businessman Naveen Jindal.
5 women MLAs elected from BJP
BJP candidate Shakti Rani Sharma has won from Kalka seat, while Krishna Gehlawat has won from Rai assembly seat. BJP candidate Ruti Chaudhary has won from Tosham, while Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh’s daughter Aarti Singh has won from Ateli seat. Ruti Chaudhary is also the daughter of BJP MP Kiran Chaudhary. Kiran Chaudhary, daughter-in-law of former Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal, joined BJP from Congress in June this year. BJP’s Bimla Chaudhary has won from Pataudi assembly seat.
7 women MLAs elected from Congress
Among the Congress candidates, Vinesh Phogat has won from Julana assembly seat, while former minister and Congress candidate Geeta Bhukkal has won from Jhajjar seat. Congress’s Shaili Chaudhary has won from Narayangarh seat, while Shakuntala Khatak has won from Kalanaur seat. Pooja has won from Mullana assembly seat and Renu Bala from Sadhaura seat. Congress candidate Manju Chaudhary has won from Nangal Chaudhary seat.
